I went here because I was craving Pinakbet that tastes like home only to be enticed to order a few more! For context, this whole meal was just for me (I was takaw tingin because everything looked delicious and I was assured that I can always have them to-go). I get why their tintadong pusit was one of their best sellers because it was so different in a delicious way. The Pinakbet was the star for me because it was the kind our Ates used to cook for me in the province (that I can never replicate). The dessert was a deconstructed halo halo which I loved bec it was well thought of! The staff were very accommodating. They went above and beyond to make me not feel awkward cos I ordered alot of food for myself. They told me stories about the food and how it’s best consumed. Really worth the travel for me and I’ll definitely be back again but I’ll order something different next time.

No bias (since the chef is a good friend) — food is really good. The taste and presentation is top notch! Favorite is the mulberry yoghurt shake, bulalo kansi and pinakbet. Also, I never eat squid. But heard lots of good things about the crispy tintadong pusit and it’s now in my list of favorites. Solid!

We went there on a Monday brunch and had the most pleasant dining experience. The staff were attentive, and our orders were served on time. My husband and I got to bond over food without the customer rush. Food was delicious!! We can't get enough of the Mami and lechon belly! We were only supposed to order a single serving of mami but ended up finishing the family size hahaha! Don't forget to add a bit of vinegar to your mami to help balance and deepen its flavor. Also order their ube shake! My gosh, so divine! Definitely worth visiting.

Visiting Trining’s with my family was one of the highlights of our trip to the Philippines. The food was absolutely incredible—authentic, flavorful, and cooked with so much heart. I personally fell in love with the Crispy Tintadong Pusit (a definite must-try)! Even my German husband, who’s a very picky eater, was won over by their Watermelon Sinigang and Kare-Kare— Filipino classics that Trining’s truly nails. And of course, the ingenious Fried Halo-Halo was the perfect way to end a delightful feast. But what made the visit even more memorable was the warm hospitality that truly made me feel at home. Chef Jayson was incredibly accommodating and even created a special off-menu drink just for me. Trining’s is perfect for foreigners seeking a true taste of the Philippines and balikbayans missing the comforting flavors of home. Will definitely come back here when we visit the PH again.

Trining's kitchen is such a nice place to dine with family, friends or love one's 1.pet friendly. 2.delicious foods. 3.Ambiance is spectacular. 4.staffs are accommodating and served with a smile. Kudos to all staff - Cath,Martin and Eli was there on the floor when we arrived. - Just additional comment about the Servers that they should be knowledgeable about the menu and should introduce and assist the guests specially to the seniors about it, and also ask about the preferences in terms of food allergens and then they can suggest what is the best seller just like us that was dined the 2nd time. But overall the night was astonishing and fun especially to us whom came from other place just to taste yours truly Trining's kitchen.

Marikina is currently emerging as another gastronomic hub within Metro Manila and Trining's is part of that wave, alongside Leo Sea House and 61 Orange. Food is excellent and can rival Manam or Lola Cafe. Offerings are unique and servings are hefty. To note, Trining's is the only restaurant serving dinardaraan - crispy dinuguan with deep fried pork innards - in this side of the Metro. It's an easy choice when you crave a hearty meal with family and you want honest-to-goodness Filipino food. Among the best dishes I've had are the La-ud Watermelon Sunset, the Crispy Tintadong Pusit, the Balut-Waiting in Kalentong, the Dinardaraan (of course), and the miki (not pictured, but I personally vouch for their rendition). The Balut-Waiting in Kalentong in particular is exquisite, and foreign friends were eager to try the dish; if you're skittish about eating balut in its basest form, this is the next best thing. My mother - a particularly healthy eater - is a big fan of the watermelon salad with pumpkin seeds and kesong puti; as a salty-sweet lifer (one of the many genes I inherited), it added balance to the sweetness of the watermelon and a dash of color. My girlfriend on the other hand was particularly fond of their Kimchigang, everyone's favorite Filipino soup with an added spicy-sour quirk. The dishes in toto capture a particular flavor peculiar to Ilocano cuisine yet appeals to the generic Filipino taste. I wouldn't have known the chef is self-taught, having learned from his grandmothers (hence the resto's name). Location is a bit far from the center of Manila (Gil Fernando in marikina) but it's one of the better restaurants in that side of town. It can go toe-to-toe with the surrounding restos (staples like Comedor and Miguel & Maria are beside it). Prices are fair and serving sizes as advertised in the menu are accurate. Trining's is highly recommended for balikbayan friends itching to have genuine Filipino food, for foreign friends who want Filipino food with an edge, or simply for friends and family if you happen to be around the area. Chef Jayson if you're reading this, one round of balut-waiting in Kalentong on you! And the girlfriend asks if you can try using liempo for the sinigang next time.

I’ve been hearing about this place for a while now. Decided to bring my Lolas with me for some lunch. They were amazed by the very creative and descriptive menu. Food was really good. It’s your usual ilocano dishes with a twist. Ordered the bulalo sinigang, crispy squid, crispy dinuguan, bopis, dinakdakan and aligue rice. Their dinakdakan is the best!! Would go back again.
